About Me
Guanhua Yao is a digital Artist, photographer,and educator —but at home, he’s mostly just trying to keep up with his three energetic Maltese dogs. They rule the house, demanding attention, belly rubs, and the occasional starring role in his photos. When he’s not chasing after them, he loves capturing the world through his lens, whether it’s everyday moments or surreal, dreamlike scenes. His work often explores identity and belonging, but honestly, his dogs don’t care about that—as long as they get treats and cuddles, life is good.

Designed and taught 16-week Photography and Visual Communication courses, both in-person and online, to undergraduate students (15-20 per class). Covered key principles of photojournalism, visual storytelling, and various genres of visual arts, with an emphasis on composition, marketing strategies, and communication. Course content included darkroom techniques, digital post-production, video production, and interdisciplinary approaches to visual media.
